Start with the purpose

Specify the market, audience language, topic and purpose of owning the network. Include the main project URL and subjects that need supporting coverage. Separate website production from search ranking promises.

Agree the boundaries

Record the number of sites, per-site tier, domain costs, hosting, content and maintenance. Specify who owns the accounts and approves each publication. The delivery date and acceptance criteria should sit beside the price.

Example brief

Five English-language gardening sites for the UK; $200 build tier per site. The build line is 5 × $200 = $1,000. Domains, hosting and ongoing work are separate agreed lines. This is a calculation example, not an inventory of available domains.
