How to inspect a domain for a PBN

A useful domain review combines content history, backlinks, transfer rights and technical condition. One SEO score cannot replace those checks.

How to inspect a domain for a PBN: History by date → Backlinks by source → Rights and costs

History by date

Review multiple snapshots, not just a favourable homepage. Record former topics, language changes, parking periods and suspicious redirects. A missing snapshot is a gap in observation, not proof of a clean history.

Backlinks by source

Inspect linking pages, their context and destination URLs. Separate editorial mentions from directories, compromised pages and automated lists. Do not combine every backlink into a single claim of value.

Rights and costs

Check transfer eligibility, renewal date, auction price and annual registration. Owning a domain does not automatically grant rights to every recovered article or photograph.

Review record

For each candidate record: domain; previous topic; dated snapshots; link sources; content rights; purchase price; renewal; unknowns; decision. Example rejection: the topic fits, but content rights and transfer rights remain unconfirmed.

Use this procedure as a project checklist. The exact service scope belongs in your agreed brief.
